Job summary

An employment law intake attorney is sought by a California plaintiff-side employment law firm to evaluate prospective clients, guide them through the initial legal process, and determine the viability of new matters.

You will conduct comprehensive intake consultations, analyze claims under Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, FLSA and California laws, and prepare detailed evaluations for senior attorneys. This role emphasizes client interaction and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar in good standing.
• 2+ years of employment law, litigation, or related legal experience.
• Strong understanding of federal and California employment laws.
• Excellent legal research, issue-spotting, and analytical abilities.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and client-friendly manner.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high-volume caseload environment.
• Experience with case management software and intake systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive intake consultations with prospective clients to evaluate potential employment law claims.
• Assess matters involving wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and other employment-related disputes.
• Analyze claims under federal and state employment laws, including Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, and applicable California labor and employment statutes.
• Prepare detailed case evaluations and legal summaries for review by senior attorneys.
• Educate prospective clients regarding their legal rights, potential claims, and available options.
• Collaborate with intake coordinators, paralegals, and legal staff to ensure efficient intake processes and documentation.
• Manage a high volume of consultations while providing exceptional client service and professionalism.
• Identify matters that may require referral to other practice areas or outside counsel when appropriate.
