Job summary

Jobot seeks a mid-level Labor & Employment Associate to counsel employers and manage litigation as part of a growing East Coast practice.

You will handle discrimination, wage-and-hour, leave issues, handbook and policy work, and defend charges in state and federal court. Hybrid work is possible, with a competitive salary range and substantial client-facing responsibility early in your tenure.

Qualifications

• JD and active bar admission in at least one target market (PA/NJ/VA/MD/DC).
• 3–5 years labor & employment experience, with counseling and litigation exposure.
• Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage matters independently and communicate with clients.

Responsibilities

• Counsel employers on federal and state employment law, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage-and-hour, leave, and accommodation issues.
• Draft handbooks, policies, employment agreements, and separation agreements.
• Handle employment litigation in state and federal court, including pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and mediation.
• Respond to and defend charges before EEOC and state agencies.

Salary: $140,000 - $175,000 per year

Our client is a national, full-service business law firm with offices across the country and deep roots on the East Coast. It represents middle-market companies, closely held businesses, and entrepreneurs, and it pairs big-firm capability with a practical, client-first approach. The Firm’s Labor & Employment group handles both advisory and contested matters for employers. It’s adding a mid-level associate to support continued growth in its East Coast offices.

• Handle employment litigation in state and federal court, including pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and mediation
• Respond to and defend charges before the EEOC and state agencies
• Assist with workplace investigations and training

Qualifications

• JD and active bar admission in at least one of these states PA, NJ, VA, MD, or DC (or eligibility in the target market)
• About 3-5 years of labor and employment experience, ideally including both counseling and litigation
• Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to manage matters independently and communicate directly with clients
