Job Title: Employment Attorney – Special Counsel (Virtual Office)
Job Location: Dallas, TX (Remote with some local travel)
Job Overview:
A prominent national labor and employment law firm is seeking a skilled Employment Attorney with over 7 years of experience to join their team as Special Counsel. This role offers flexibility through a virtual office setting while providing the opportunity to manage a wide range of employment-related legal matters, including administrative charges, demand letters, and employment litigation. The position allows for collaboration with a team of legal professionals while focusing on high-quality legal work without business development pressures.
Duties:
- Manage a diverse caseload of employment-related matters, including administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and employment litigation.
- Handle single-plaintiff litigation, and potentially assist with class action and PAGA cases.
- Supervise junior attorneys and paralegals, overseeing case strategy, work product review, and guiding on legal issues.
- Conduct depositions, draft legal documents, and represent clients in hearings, conferences, and trials.
- Provide legal counsel to clients regarding employment practices and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with partners and other attorneys to devise effective case strategies.
- Participate in administrative hearings and legal proceedings, with a focus on efficient, high-quality legal work.
- Travel as necessary for local hearings or client meetings.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in employment law and litigation.
- Strong background in handling employment-related legal matters, with a focus on administrative charges, demand letters, and employment litigation.
- Proven ability to manage cases independently and efficiently, while working remotely.
- Active membership in good standing with a state bar.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients in a virtual environment.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active bar membership in good standing (State Barin at least one jurisdiction required).
- Preference for candidates with Bar admission in California.
Skills:
- Strong litigation experience, particularly in employment law.
- Excellent communication, legal writing, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage complex legal matters from start to finish.
- Proficiency with legal research tools and case management systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a virtual team.
- Expertise in managing and mentoring junior attorneys and staff.
