Job summary

State of Ohio's Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation in Cambridge is hiring an Employer Services Specialist. This on-site role handles a portfolio of employers, advising on premium rates, classifications, and loss control programs to help reduce costs and claims.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in business/insurance or equivalent experience, plus ability to travel and transportation. Applicants must meet qualifications and may participate in flex-time scheduling when needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, insurance & risk management or related field of study; must be able to provide own transportation.
• Or 2 yrs. exp. in public or private insurance organization position that involved insurance sales, marketing or provision of consultative services to commercial clients/employers; must be able to provide own transportation.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

• Under general direction, works independently to manage portfolio of assigned employers to consult & assist regarding premium rates, NCCI manual classifications, BWC’s rating, discount & incentive programs, available grants, and the importance & necessity of loss control programs.
• Contacts assigned new and existing employers to market, support, and implement various BWC initiatives.
• Provide loss control consultation within assigned employer account portfolio and works with Employer Programs to enroll employers in the loss control programs.
• Review assigned employer protests & appeals and issue decisions to grant or deny based on ORC, OAC, BWC rule and applicable policy.
• Works with other BWC Departments to resolve employers’ questions and problems related to coverage, jurisdiction, invoicing, payroll & premiums, independent contractor issues, and discount programs.
