Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an Employee Relations Partner to provide trusted HR guidance in Alabama’s healthcare environment. You will manage a high-volume caseload, investigate workplace issues, and advise leaders on performance management and corrective action with sound judgment.

This role emphasizes enforcing HR policies, ensuring compliance, and partnering with Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management to resolve concerns while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
• Three (3) years of dedicated Employee Relations experience or five (5) years of progressive HR experience with significant responsibility for employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, and corrective action.
• Demonstrated experience independently managing complex employee relations matters and advising leaders on sensitive employment issues

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a high-volume caseload involving performance concerns, misconduct, attendance, workplace conflict, policy violations, and employee complaints.
• Advise leaders on performance management, corrective action, progressive discipline, and employee relations best practices.
• Conduct workplace investigations and provide recommendations consistent with organizational policies and employment laws.
• Interpret and apply HR policies, procedures, and employment laws to ensure consistent decision-making.
• Review disciplinary actions and employment decisions for consistency, compliance, and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with HR, Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, and operational leadership as needed.

Job Description

The Employee Relations Partner serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on complex workplace matters. This role independently manages employee relations cases, conducts workplace investigations, provides guidance on performance management and corrective action, interprets HR policies, and supports leaders in resolving workplace concerns. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and navigate sensitive situations in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Assess complex employment situations and determine appropriate next steps, including escalation when necessary.
• Prepare and maintain accurate employee relations documentation and case records.
• Identify trends and provide recommendations to improve employee relations practices and workplace culture.
• Collaborate with HR, Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, and operational leadership as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
• Three (3) years of dedicated Employee Relations experience or five (5) years of progressive HR experience with significant responsibility for employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, and corrective action.

Demonstrated experience independently managing complex employee relations matters and advising leaders on sensitive employment issues

Preferred

• Healthcare Employee Relations experience.
• Experience supporting leaders in a large, complex organization.
• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
