Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children, Hawai'i’s premier maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital, is seeking an Employee Relations Manager to advise on labor relations and compliance and to coordinate investigations.

Location: Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children. Work Schedule: Day - 8 Hours. Work Type: Full Time Regular. FTE: 1.000000. Bargaining Unit: Non-Bargaining. Exempt: Yes. Pay Range: 128,690 - 160,867 USD per year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience as an HR Generalist, HR Manager, or direct work experience in employee relations with employees, management and government agencies at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee system-wide labor relations investigations and ensure compliance.
  • Mentor and supervise HR staff, coordinating with the HR Coordinator as needed.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Hawai‘i Pacific Health and the labor unions, advising management on negotiations and contracts.

Job description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

The Human Resources team builds collaborative strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to support the organization’s mission, goals and initiatives. We develop areas such as workforce staffing and development, operational support, compensation, payroll, benefits, employee relations and organizational effectiveness. We strive to ensure that the most talented and qualified applicants are placed in our health care institutions, and that they receive the best administrative, employee training and safety support available.

As the Employee Relations Manager, you will consult with employees, managers, executives and external contacts to provide expert advice and recommend solutions on the full spectrum of labor relations and compliance issues. This includes overseeing system-wide investigations, responding to situations and managing all levels of disciplinary actions. You will coordinate and supervise some of the work responsibilities of the HR Coordinator, and utilize expertise to mentor and develop other team members and staff. You will also serve as the primary liaison between Hawai‘i Pacific Health and the labor unions. Minimum five (5) years of experience as an HR Generalist, HR Manager, or direct work experience in employee relations working with employees, management and government agencies at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications: Seasoned strategic HR professional with health care experience. Experience with multi-union environments, contract negotiations, laws and regulations applicable to health care.
