Job summary

Mammoth Distribution in Los Angeles is hiring an Employee Relations Manager to own investigations, performance management, and coaching for our hourly Operations teams. Reporting to the CHRO, you will lead defensible workplace investigations, guide managers through PIPs and corrective actions, and drive culture initiatives across the company.

We seek someone with 5+ years in HR, 3+ years in employee relations in California, and proven capability to manage confidential matters with neutrality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HR experience, including 3+ years focused on employee relations for hourly workforces
• Experience leading and documenting workplace investigations end to end
• Employee relations experience in California
• Experience guiding managers through PIPs, corrective action, and terminations
• Working knowledge of federal and California employment law
• Understanding of investigation standards and credibility factors
• Strong written documentation and case management skills
• Ability to stay neutral and credible with all parties
• Experience facilitating training and leading groups
• HRIS, case-tracking tools, and basic reporting proficiency
• Bachelor's degree in HR, organizational psychology, or related field preferred
• SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or AWI trained preferred
• Experience delivering employee engagement or culture programs a plus
• Experience in cannabis or regulated/high-growth environments a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead intake, planning, and investigation of workplace complaints in Operations, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and misconduct
• Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses; assess credibility and write defensible findings reports and closure letters
• Maintain a complete case log and documentation for every employee relations matter
• Escalate matters with potential legal exposure to the CHRO with a clear summary of facts and risks
• Advise Operations managers on documentation, PIPs, final warnings, and termination readiness
• Prepare and review PIPs, warning documents, and termination risk reviews before action
• Coach managers through difficult conversations and build their ability to handle performance and conduct issues
• Build and deliver manager training on feedback, documentation, and accountability
• Track ER trends across Operations and deliver quarterly reports to CHRO
• Partner with Operations leaders on talent and organizational effectiveness reviews
• Own companywide culture initiatives, events, and recognition programs from planning to execution
• Collaborate with leaders to drive employee participation and engagement
