Job summary

Sun Life U.S. in Missouri is seeking an Employee Relations Consultant to provide day‑to‑day ER support, triage inquiries, coordinate documentation and assist with accommodations and leaves. You will maintain case records and help implement ER tools and improvements.

You will partner with Sr. ERCs, HRBPs, Legal and Compliance to ensure timely, compliant resolutions, while protecting employee experience and business needs.

Qualifications

• BA or equivalent degree in Human Resources or related field.
• 3-5 years progressive experience in HR, preferably in employee relations.
• Excellent knowledge of U.S employment legislation, trends & practices.
• Excellent planning, organization and time management, attention to detail in fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, teamwork and independent work with clear communications.
• Strong judgment and discretion handling confidential information.
• Diplomatic and respectful demeanor in difficult situations.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication with strong active listening.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee relations inquiries via ER channels; triage and escalate as needed.
• Assist with routine Employee Relations matters in support of Sr. ERC staff.
• Serve as first point of contact for accommodations, leave of absence and disability matters.
• Document and track case activity; respond to leader inquiries and escalate appropriately.
• Ensure communications and documentation are well written, clear and professional.
• Support compliance with employment legislation and absence management processes.
• Balance business needs with employee well‑being while mitigating risk.
• Develop partnerships with Sr. ERCs, managers and HRBPs, Legal and Compliance to resolve matters.
• Participate in HR/ER projects; contribute to best practices and process improvements.
