Job summary

Border States, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking an Accounting Clerk in Fargo, ND. This role supports day-to-day accounting operations, including transaction processing, journal entries, and month-end activities, in a collaborative, professional environment.

You will gain hands-on experience across multiple accounting processes and contribute to reporting, audits, and process documentation while working with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in accounting or related business field required.
• Experience in a professional environment preferred.
• Basic Excel knowledge including data entry and arithmetic formulas, formatting, sorting, filtering, and lookup functions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint) required.
• Knowledge of SAP or similar accounting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Records transactions and supports data entry and routine reporting activities.
• Prepares routine journal entries and adjustments using the Financial Accounting service-ticketing system (JIRA).
• Prepares account reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
• Completes daily and month-end tasks.
• Assists in audits and variance analyses and reporting deliverables.
• Supports ad-hoc analyses and special projects.
