Job summary

Thompson Hospitality in Reston, VA is seeking an HR Communications Assistant to support the Employee Engagement team. You will develop internal communication strategies, manage multi-channel communications, and measure engagement outcomes to drive business objectives.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field, 1–2 years in internal communications, strong writing/editing skills, Canva design experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and UKG.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• 1–2 years in internal communications, employee engagement, HR, or corporate communications.
• Graphic design experience using Canva is required.
• Excellent written, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong ability to interpret data from engagement surveys and metrics.
• Experience creating newsletters and employee communications using MS Office and digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute internal communication strategies that strengthen employee engagement and organizational alignment.
• Create and manage communications across newsletters, digital platforms, executive messaging, and recognition campaigns.
• Maintain employee communication platforms, including UKG Home Page Gadgets, ensuring timely, consistent messaging.
• Monitor engagement and communication metrics to identify trends and measure program effectiveness.
• Translate data into actionable recommendations to improve participation, recognition, and engagement.
• Prepare dashboards and reports for leadership to support continuous improvement.
