Qualifications

The Employee Benefits Consultant Senior is responsible for driving new business development, retaining and growing existing client relationships, and delivering strategic employee benefits consulting services. This role serves as a trusted advisor to employers by designing, implementing, and managing employee benefit programs while identifying opportunities to improve workforce health, control costs, ensure compliance, and support organizational objectives. The ideal candidate combines strong sales acumen with deep employee benefits expertise and serves as both a business developer and primary client consultant. This individual collaborates with internal service teams, carrier partners, and executive-level client stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions and exceptional client outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve annual new business revenue goals.
• Generate qualified leads and build a strong sales pipeline through networking, referrals, centers of influence, industry events, and targeted prospecting activities.
• Conduct client and prospect needs assessments and develop customized employee benefits strategies and recommendations.
• Maintain accurate sales activity, pipeline, and revenue forecasting within CRM systems.
• Analyze and evaluate medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary, and other employee benefit programs.
• Review requests for proposals (RFPs), conduct market analyses, negotiate with carriers, and recommend coverage and renewal strategies.
• Develop financial projections, cost analyses, benchmarking comparisons, and strategic recommendations.
• Negotiate pricing, contract terms, coverage provisions, and service agreements with carriers and vendors.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree 5+ years of employee benefits brokerage, consulting, or insurance industry experience.
• Group Health License for Employee Benefits

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field preferred.
• Proven success in new business development and client relationship management.
• Experience advising mid-market and large employer groups on employee benefits strategies.
• Understanding of benefits administration, carrier products, and industry trends.
• Excellent consultative selling and relationship-building skills.
• Strong negotiation, presentation, and public speaking abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and key decision-makers.
• Strong project management, organizational, and follow-up skills.
• Ability to independently manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Visible and credible presence within the Human Resources and employee benefits community.

Compensation Range

Compensation Range: $70,000.00 - $140,000.00 Annual Draw (reconciled against earned incentive compensation) The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education.
