Job summary

Caring Acres in Iowa is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant to join our rehabilitation team. Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the PTA will provide hands-on therapy to residents in a skilled nursing facility, helping them regain independence.

You will implement treatment plans, assist with exercises, document progress, and collaborate with nursing and medical staff to ensure coordinated care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current state licensure/certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist
• Assist residents with therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, mobility training, and strengthening programs
• Monitor resident progress and communicate changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Accurately document treatments, resident responses, and progress notes in compliance with facility and regulatory standards
• Educate residents and caregivers on exercises, mobility safety, and therapy goals
• Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated resident care
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized therapy environment
• Promote resident dignity, comfort, and independence throughout therapy sessions
