Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Nursing Assistant I/II to provide empathic patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role emphasizes clear communication with patients, families, and visitors, and supports ethical decision-making in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications include either CNA certification or the ability to obtain it, with preference for NYS CNA licensure, and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Empathy and strong communication with patients, families and visitors.
• Ability to respond to changing patient needs with ethical principles.
• Under RN supervision, provide essential patient care and support.

Responsibilities

• Change dressings and assist with basic care tasks as directed.
• Take vital signs including temperature, pulse, BP and respiration.
• Attend daily living activities and assist with feeding and hygiene.
• Document care and behaviors as required.
• Maintain patient rights, dignity and confidentiality.
• Assist with housekeeping duties related to direct patient care.
