Canoo is seeking an eMotor Design Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and validation of drive unit electric motors for automotive powertrains. You will work with CAE and system engineers to integrate motor, geartrain, cooling, and power electronics for mass production.
The role requires hands-on development and testing of IPM and induction motors, strong EM analysis skills, and collaboration with suppliers to meet stringent durability and efficiency targets. Equal opportunity employer.
The eMotor Design Engineer will be responsible for component development and validation of cutting‑edge electric vehicle drive units. The eMotor Design Engineer will focus on drive unit design, analysis, issue resolution, and validation. Make design decisions on drive unit electric motor architectures with a strong focus on stator and rotor electromagnetic design to qualify the design for mass production. Collaborate with a talented team of design, CAE, and system engineers to create a highly integrated drive unit assembly with an electric traction motor, geartrain, cooling, and power electronics. The position oversees design and release of components and must have familiarity with current eDrive systems to maintain a competitive target setting.
While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to sit for prolonged periods of time, occasionally bending or stooping, lifting up to 25 pounds, and prolonged periods of computer use.
