Job summary

The University of Maine at Farmington seeks an Emerging Technology Coordinator to lead campus-wide efforts in exploring, evaluating, and thoughtfully adopting new technology, from AI to the next tools on the horizon.

This role partners with faculty, staff, students, and campus leaders to build digital and AI literacy, support innovative teaching and learning, and help UMF navigate a rapidly changing technological landscape.

Qualifications

• Master's degree and 1 year hands-on AI tool experience or 6 years total related work.
• Enthusiasm for exploring AI responsibly with understanding of limits and ethics.
• Collaboration across diverse campus constituencies with a service mindset.
• Ability to coordinate projects and deliver through proactive initiative.

Responsibilities

• Lead campus efforts to identify and evaluate emerging technologies incl. AI and responsible-use practices.
• Create engaging training and professional development on these technologies for faculty, staff, students.
• Partner with faculty to integrate emerging tech into teaching and assessments.
• Collaborate with Library to strengthen AI and information literacy campus-wide.
• Explore tools and projects like chatbots, agents, rapid prototyping, and learning tech.
