Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) invites an intern to join the Safety, Security, and Environment team at the Hillside Facility in Jamaica, NY. The Risk Reduction, Safety Management Systems, Emerging Talent Intern will assist in hazard analysis, data organization, and risk documentation.

You will gain exposure to Job Hazard Analysis, Fatigue Risk Management, and regulatory compliance while performing admin tasks and coordinating meetings.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
• Organizational, analytical and communication skills are required.
• Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently while contributing as a team player.

Responsibilities

• Identify hazards, organize and analyze safety data, maintain and update Job Hazard Analysis documentation.
• Support Fatigue Risk Management program requirements, coordinate meetings and project activities, draft reports and communications, resolve routine data discrepancies.
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate operational hazards while ensuring accurate documentation and timely completion of risk management activities.
• Identify workplace hazards, maintain accurate JHA records, and support proactive safety improvements.
• Support regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of Fatigue Risk Management Program.
• Ensure accurate, organized, and accessible safety information to support decision-making and communications.
• Promote efficient project execution and provide operational support for Risk Reduction initiatives.
• Provide administrative and operational assistance to advance safety initiatives.
