The Emerging Educators Pathway at Armed Services YMCA Norfolk is a six-week program designed for individuals with little or no experience in Early Childhood Education. It offers hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to developmentally appropriate practices to prepare you for a career in education, well-being, and family support.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to pass Federal, State, CPS checks and other background screenings.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Participate in ongoing assessments of children using observations and developmental checklists.
• Observe effective ways to support each child's individual learning and development with developmentally appropriate curriculum and materials.
• Assist with the implementation of a daily program balancing activities, meals, transitions, indoor and outdoor play.
• Collaborate with a lead teacher to develop and implement lesson plans based on ELM curriculum.
