Job summary

JL Terrell Construction is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support the Superintendent in managing day-to-day field operations on commercial and institutional construction projects in the Washington, DC area.

The role emphasizes coordinating subcontractors, inspections, and logistics, while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule adherence. Strong communication, organization, and reading drawings are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in commercial or institutional construction, preferably in a field-based role.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, trades, and sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Basic proficiency with construction technology (Procore, Bluebeam, Google Workspace/Microsoft Office).
• Reliable transportation and ability to work on active construction sites daily.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in daily oversight of jobsite activities to ensure work progresses according to schedule.
• Coordinate subcontractors, deliveries, inspections, and site logistics.
• Monitor work for quality, adherence to plans, specifications, and industry standards.
• Support the development and execution of the daily and weekly jobsite schedules.
• Participate in morning huddles and subcontractor coordination meetings.
