Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Northfield, IL is seeking an experienced Emergency Triage Veterinary Technician/Advanced Patient Care Associate. The role includes triage, anesthesia management, and critical patient care in a fast-paced setting.

You will monitor vitals, perform radiography, assist with CPR, venous access, and meds administration while mentoring others and supporting clients with compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Emergency veterinary technician with triage experience.
• Eligibility for local veterinary licensing affects pay.
• Competency-based progression through our assessment tool.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Triage emergencies and obtain vitals (temperature, heart rate, resp. rate, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Understand normal vital sign ranges and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vitals.
• Identify at-risk patients and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer meds appropriately.
• Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement across peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train fellow staff.
• Show empathy and address client concerns.
