Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-growing emergency and specialty team in a busy hospital setting. You will record rounds, triage patients, assist veterinarians, and educate clients on home care and medications.

The role requires a State Registered Veterinary Technician license (preferred) with prior veterinary/ER experience, solid drug calculations, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required, emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in drug calculations, dosages and rate calculations.
• Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team on treatment plans and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education on home care, medications and hospital updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house lab testing and prepare samples for external labs.

Emergency Veterinary Technician - Overnights

Proposed Schedule

Sun-Wed 8p-6a

Compensation

The hiring range for this position is $27.25 - $44.00/hour based on skillset and experience. We support our evening caregivers with lucrative shift differentials:

• Hours worked between 8pm-11:59pm = base pay +$4/hour
• Hours worked between 12am-8am = base pay +$6/hour
• Hours worked on Saturday and Sunday (day or night) = base pay + $3/hour + any applicable differentials.

What you’ll do

Who you are

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
