Job summary

MedVet in Austin, TX is seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our emergency and specialty team. You will support patient care, assist DVMs, and help educate clients.

Ideal candidates have RVT license, emergency experience, strong communication, and ability to work in a fast-paced setting with flexible hours. We offer comprehensive benefits and a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Calculations involving drugs, CRIs, unit conversions, and related dosing math.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Emergency veterinary experience preferred; ability to adapt quickly to urgent cases.
• Flexibility with hours and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
