MedVet Emergency Veterinary Technician Job Description

Position: Emergency Veterinary Technician

In the ER, every day is different and fast-paced. We seek technicians who enjoy constant movement, can adapt quickly, and handle critical situations with ease.

Responsibilities:
  1. Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as needed.
  2. Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize care based on assessment.
  3. Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing concerns.
  4. Provide client education on home care, medications, and wellness updates.
  5. Assist DVM with patient assessments, treatments, and procedures.
  6. Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
  7. Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures.
  8. Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for external labs.
Qualifications:
  • State Registered Veterinary Technician license (preferred).
  • Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred.
  • Proficient in calculations related to drugs, infusions, and conversions.
  • Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours as needed.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
