Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Care Center in Largo, Florida, is hiring an Emergency Department Manager to join our Thrive Pet Healthcare community. The hospital operates 24/7, providing gold standard emergency and specialty care with a collaborative culture and local community focus.

The role requires veterinary technician licensure (preferred), 3–4 years of emergency experience, and 1–2 years of leadership.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of emergency experience required.
• 1-2 years of leadership experience required.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of emergency technicians.
• Develop and mentor technicians in emergency medicine skills and patient care.
• Manage a working schedule to meet the needs of a 24/7 facility.
• Mange workflow from triage to hospitalization.
• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow in an emergency setting.
• Assist with and facilitate emergency surgeries and procedures in accordance with state Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed technicians.
• Communicate with clients regarding patient care and status.
• Assist in maintaining comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
