Job summary

Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Care Center in Largo, FL is seeking an Emergency Department Manager to lead our emergency team, mentor technicians, and ensure high-quality patient care around the clock.

Ideal candidates have an AVMA-accredited credential, 3–4 years emergency experience, 1–2 years leadership, and the ability to coordinate triage, hospitalization, and client communication in a fast-paced, compassionate hospital.

Qualifications

  • Licensure as a veterinary technician preferred.
  • 3–4 years of emergency experience required.
  • 1–2 years of leadership experience required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of emergency technicians and manage staffing in a 24/7 emergency department.
  • Develop and mentor technicians in emergency medicine skills and patient care.
  • Coordinate triage, hospitalization, and patient flow with veterinarians.
  • Assist with emergency surgeries and treatment protocols as permitted by state law.
  • Communicate with clients about patient status and care plans.
  • Maintain accurate medical records with practice systems.

Your Experience & Skills
  • Veterinary technician licensure preferred
  • 3-4 years of emergency experience required
  • 1-2 years of leadership experience required
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

You’re Willing And Able To
  • Lead a team of emergency technicians
  • Develop and mentor technicians in emergency medicine skills and patient care
  • Manage a working schedule to meet the needs of a 24/7 facility
  • Mange workflow from triage to hospitalization
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients
  • Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow in an emergency setting
  • Assist with and facilitate emergency surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians
  • Communicate with clients regarding patient care and status
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with salary starting at $65,000
