BluePearl Pet Hospital in Grand Rapids is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Technician to work as a Patient Care Coordinator in our state-of-the-art emergency and specialty hospital. You will triage patients, support front and back of house teams, and manage client communication and discharge processes for ER and specialty services.

Qualifications

• Previous work experience in veterinary and/or animal background is preferred (1–2 years).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
• Strong customer service skillset is essential.

Responsibilities

• Triaging incoming patients, collect and record vital signs, document patient history.
• Monitor the waiting/exam room clients; update on wait times and patient status.
• Maintain open communication with doctors and staff to minimize wait times and maximize patient flow.
• Coordinate patient flow between multiple specialties, focusing on ER services.
• Assist with discharge for emergency patients and specialty services as needed with the technical team.
• Manage the discharge/visit board and exam rooms; ensure timely visits and discharges.
• Check ER doctor messages and triage messages; facilitate solutions for clients.
• Coordinate and facilitate pharmacy requests.
• Handle patient care telephone calls from the public.
• Update billing and invoices for ER patients.
• Call previous day's ER patients for follow-up feedback.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Technician to work as a Patient Care Coordinator in our state-of-the-art emergency and specialty hospital!

As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will act as a liaison between the front and back of the hospital by facilitating client/patient flow between the waiting room, exam rooms, CSR staff, and clinical staff, triaging patients, supporting medical phone calls, coordinating client/doctor communication, and performing ER visit follow-up calls for both locations. Evening, weekend, and holiday work across both locations may be required as part of the normal workweek.

As the Patient Care Coordinator, you will:

• Triaging incoming patients, collect and record vital signs, document patient history

• Receive and address patient care telephone calls from the general public

Job Requirements:

• Previous work experience in veterinary and/or animal background required, (1-2 years preferred)
