Role Overview

As an Emergency Veterinary Doctor Coordinator, you'll thrive in a fast-paced ER environment, moving quickly between tasks and managing critical situations with ease. Every day presents new cases and challenges.

Responsibilities

• Support specific doctor(s) during shifts, possibly supporting different doctors at different times
• Ensure departmental workflow follows through for supported doctors
• Coordinate scheduling of consults, transfers, and diagnostics
• Delegate responsibilities to team members (e.g., rounding cases, managing diagnostics)
• Serve as point of contact for referral partner transfers/inquiries when doctors are unavailable
• Communicate with clients regarding cases, concerns, care plans, and Q&A in absence of the doctor
• Draft medical records, initial patient histories, vital statistics, treatment orders, referral letters, and discharge summaries
• Monitor emails and voicemails for supported doctors
• Assist with outpatient procedures (e.g., bandage changes, radiographs, samples, medications)
• Escort clients and prepare exam rooms as needed
• Mentor or train team members and delegate prescription refills when appropriate

Qualifications

• Veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, infusions, conversions)
• Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours when needed
• Efficient in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
