Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is seeking motivated Emergency Veterinary Assistants to support teams in fast-paced ER settings. You’ll be involved from triage through treatments, working with credentialed technicians and veterinarians to deliver top care for pets.

VEG emphasizes growth and learning with structured pathways, night/weekend availability, and a culture that values people as well as patients. Training includes CPR and RECOVER certification opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary tech program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.
• Excellent communicator with pets’ families.
• Able to stand long hours; lift up to 25 kg; assist up to 40 kg with help.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patients and guide them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics (bloodwork, imaging).
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation with VTs and veterinarians.
• Manage IV fluids, transfusions, and medication administration.
• Support care across outpatient and inpatient areas; participate in rounds.
