Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NYC is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team for the front-half of the week on a per diem schedule.

You will triage emergencies, assist DVM with estimates, perform radiographs and labs, and manage ICU/inpatient patients. You will discharge clients, communicate effectively, and stay current with CPR guidelines while supporting a compassionate care team.

Qualifications

• Triage emergency cases and assist DVM with estimates and care.
• Perform diagnostics (radiographs, labs) and manage ICU/inpatient patients.
• Communicate with clients and discharge instructions under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with nursing care per hospital standards.
• Stock and maintain ER/ICU areas.
• Understand medications, side effects, and monitoring.
• Administer meds under guidance of an LVT.
• Perform radiography and lab work.
• Conduct physical exams and monitor vitals.
• Engage with clients during triage and discharge planning.
• Stay current with CPR guidelines as assigned.
