Job summary
PetVet Care Centers' Barton Heights Veterinary Hospital in Stroudsburg, PA seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including patient care, restraint, surgery prep, and clerical work. The role carries a sign-on bonus up to $2,000 based on experience.
Established in a 24/7 emergency/critical care setting, this AAHA-accredited hospital offers diverse services, a culture of care, and opportunities for growth while requiring weekend and holiday
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older to be considered for this position.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to be the only tech on overnight shifts and be the surgery tech if needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care to all patients
- Greet patients and owners, record weight and vital signs on arrival
- Triage patients, assist with exams, treatments and medications as directed by licensed staff
- Calm and soothe anxious patients
- Assist doctors and technicians with medications and restraint
- Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment and facilities
- Maintain medical records and proper documentation
- Work full-time overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Promote hospital products and services and support the organization
