Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is hiring a part-time Emergency Veterinary Assistant in New York. You’ll support triage, treatments, and patient care, while learning from credentialed technicians and veterinarians. The role emphasizes growth, training pathways, and CPR/RECOVER certification through state-appropriate programs.

You’ll join a fast-paced environment with exposure to anesthesia, diagnostics, and critical care, while balancing life with flexible shifts and a welcoming team culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited vet tech program is a plus.
• 1+ year in veterinary assistant role preferred, emergency experience a bonus.
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.
• Strong communication with pet parents and team.

Responsibilities

• Triaging patients and guiding them toward care.
• Assisting with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Setting up and monitoring anesthesia and sedation.
• Managing IV fluids, transfusions, and meds.
• Supporting care in outpatient or inpatient settings.
• Participating in patient rounds to maintain continuity of care.
• Learning CPR and RECOVER certification during training.
• Growing into advanced responsibilities via guided training.
