Westside Animal Emergency Clinic in Lithia Springs, Georgia, is seeking a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with daily patient care, equipment prep, and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous ER experience
• Proficient in IV Catheter placement
• Jugular blood draws
• Cephalic, saphenous, femoral blood draws (cats)
• Patient monitoring (ICU/Post-Surgical)
• Taking/positioning for digital x‑rays
• Triaging
• Proper restraint of dogs & cats
• Surgical prep
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Administering injections IV/IM/SQ
• Client communications
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients
• Greet patients and owners, record weight and vital signs
• Triage patients and assist with exams, treatments, and medications
• Calm and soothe anxious patients
• Assist doctors with medications and restraints
• Perform lab tests and take radiographs
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment
• Fill prescriptions and maintain proper documentation
• Feed patients and record appetites
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medicinal plans
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and proper chemical use
• Bath and groom patients staying overnight
• Follow safety and wellness regulations
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Show up for full-time shifts
• Promote hospital products and services
• Respond to directions from DVM/LVT
• Performs other duties as assigned
