Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant for evening shifts in Akron, OH. The role supports the emergency team with rapid patient assessment, anesthesia induction, and in-house lab work in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have a Vet Tech license or equivalent experience and be comfortable with calculations, client communication, and ongoing education. The position offers comprehensive benefits and a dynamic, collaborative workplace.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRI, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Emergency Veterinary Assistant - Evenings

Proposed Schedule: Wednesday- Saturday 3p-1:30a

This role has a hiring range of $17.00-28.00/hr based on experience.

Every day is different and there's never the same case twice!

What you'll do:

Who you are:
