Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team in Mobile, AL. The role involves assisting DVMs, monitoring hospitalized patients, and providing client education on medications and home care.

A veterinary background is required, with emergency experience preferred; strong math skills and the ability to multitask are essential. This position offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth within a supportive, team-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Emergency experience is desirable.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, dosages, conversions).
• Flexible with hours and able to work additional shifts as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans and nursing care.
• Provide client education including home care instructions and medication guidance.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside lab testing.

We are looking for: Emergency Veterinary Assistant

Our Emergency team is the perfect place for technicians who thrive in a fast-paced environment, can shift gears quickly and handle the stress of critical situations with ease. Every day is different and there’s never the same case twice!

What you’ll do:

• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired
