BluePearl Pet Hospital in Wyomissing, PA is proud to offer our Emergency Veterinarian Mentorship Training Program, EmERge. The program helps candidates obtain the skills and confidence needed to become successful Emergency Veterinarians at state‑of‑the‑art hospitals. It begins in January and June each year.

Eligibility

• You must be a graduate of an AVMA accredited veterinary school.
• You must have passed or be pending the NAVLE.
• You must have or be eligible for a license to practice in the state of interest.

Program Structure

EmERge is a one‑year training program followed by a one‑year post‑EmERge commitment, divided into three phases.

Phase 1 (Weeks 1‑14)

• 4 Weeks of Bootcamp: Virtual (Weeks 1–2) and in‑person (Weeks 3–4) training to build foundational emergency medicine skills.
• 2 Weeks of Specialty Rotations: Gain exposure to various specialties to enhance understanding and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
• 8 Weeks of ER Shifts: Apply training in a real‑world setting under the mentorship of experienced emergency clinicians.

Phase 2 (Weeks 15‑32)

• Increased Responsibility: Manage more complex cases with greater independence while still receiving guidance from mentors.
• ER Shift Focus: Full shifts in the ER, developing critical thinking and decision‑making skills in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ongoing Mentorship: Regular check‑ins with mentors to review cases, address challenges, and refine clinical skills.
• Exposure to Diverse Cases: Handle a variety of emergency cases to broaden expertise and build confidence.
• Ongoing Didactics: Participate in a weekly webinar series designed to enhance learning and keep updated on latest practices.

Phase 3 (Weeks 33‑52)

• Independent Case Management: Full responsibility for managing emergency cases, showcasing confidence and competence in clinical decision‑making.
• Continued Collaboration: Work alongside the hospital team to provide exceptional patient care while honing leadership and communication skills.
• Advanced Skill Application: Apply advanced diagnostic and procedural skills to handle high‑acuity cases.
• Mentor Support: Maintain access to mentor guidance as needed, ensuring continued growth and support.
• Ongoing Didactics: Participate in a weekly webinar series designed to enhance learning and keep updated on latest practices.

Salary

• Phase one salary (Weeks 1‑14): $120,000
• Phase two salary (Weeks 15‑32): $120,000
• Phase three salary (Weeks 33‑52): Full‑time ER clinician market‑rate salary plus quarterly production bonus
