VEG is a nationwide, 24/7 veterinary emergency group seeking an Emergency Veterinarian who thrives in a fast-paced ER environment. You will mentor teammates, manage diverse cases, including surgeries and exotics, and advance your career with VEG Education programs and CE opportunities.

As a VEGgy, you’ll work in a collaborative hospital setting that values patient care, client communication, and continual learning.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree required.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Thrive in a team-oriented hospital environment with strong communication.
• Able to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 kg (40 kg with assistance).
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced setting with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone and triage patients.
• See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes approach.
• Collect signalment, presenting complaint, vitals and exam.
• Perform physical exams, imaging and lab work as needed.
• Create diagnostic and therapeutic plans for each case.
• Communicate diagnoses and treatment options to clients.
• Prepare and present estimates to clients.
• Document medical records accurately and thoroughly.
• Explain the value of tests and procedures to clients.
