Job summary

VEG in Massachusetts is seeking an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line team delivering fast, compassionate care for pets in emergency situations. You’ll work closely with doctors and support staff to provide gold-standard nursing from triage through discharge.

This role uses IVs, CRIs, anesthesia, imaging, and critical care skills, with opportunities for growth, mentorship, and a culture that values curiosity, empathy, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology preferred.
• Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located.
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with practice management software and EMR.
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure.
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment.
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours and lift up to 25 kg (40 kg with assistance).
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Able to work in a noisy environment with strong odors.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line emergency nursing care and triage.
• Deliver treatments, monitoring, and emotional support in critical moments.
• Administer medications, IVs, CRIs, and transfusions as needed.
• Collaborate with doctors to plan and coordinate care.
• Perform CPR per RECOVER standards.
• Handle diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and procedures.
• Assist anesthesia for patients in need.
• Utilize advanced techniques (central lines, ultrasounds) as appropriate.
