Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care team in Minnesota. This weekend/holiday schedule role provides rapid growth opportunities while working with top veterinary professionals.

The Emergency Vet Technician will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform radiography and manage patient vital signs with confidence and compassion. Collaboration with veterinarians and mentoring peers is expected.

Qualifications

Emergency veterinary technician duties include anesthesia induction and monitoring.
Ability to triage emergencies and monitor vitals in a fast-paced setting.
Proficiency with radiography and proper patient positioning.
Understand normal ranges of vitals and notify veterinarians of changes.
Perform phlebotomy, IV catheters and manage medications as needed.
Demonstrate mentoring and empathy toward clients and staff.

Responsibilities

Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia equipment.
Triage emergency cases upon arrival and obtain vitals such as temperature and heart rate.
Perform digital radiography with proper technique and positioning.
Maintain accurate assessment of vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
Identify patients at risk and initiate CPR when needed.
Calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes.
Proficiently place feeding tubes and central lines as required.
Support and mentor other co-workers in the department.
