Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group in Larkspur, CA is seeking an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician (Relief) to join our ER team on a per diem basis. You will provide frontline nursing care, assist with diagnostics, anesthesia, and monitoring, and support doctors in delivering gold-standard care for urgent cases.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of veterinary tech experience, CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT credentials, and AVMA-accredited education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA-accredited program strongly preferred
• Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of the VEG practice is required; VTS is a plus
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with practice management software and EMR
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, from triage to discharge, in a high-volume ER setting
• Assist doctors with diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing
• Perform tasks including IVs, CRIs, blood transfusions, and sample collection
• Communicate effectively with team and contribute to care plans
• Demonstrate CPR readiness and perform procedures as needed
• Operate imaging, diagnostics, and advanced techniques
• Handle anesthesia for sensitive patients and manage equipment
