Job summary

Ohio State University is seeking a Veterinary Care Assistant 2 for Small Animal Emergency/Critical Care on the 2nd shift. You will support clinicians, staff and students in daily operations, provide basic patient care, assist with specimen collection, and help with admissions, discharges and transport of patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 6 months of veterinary experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care for small animals.
• Assist with collection of lab specimens (blood, urine, feces).
• Assist with patient assessment, restraint and treatments.
• Assist with training student employees in prescribed care of animals.
• Comfort and care for hospitalized animals; monitor and report changes.
• Transport patients within the Veterinary Medical Center and to Goss Lab.
• Clean and disinfect treatment areas and housing units; stock supplies.
• Perform daily cleaning duties and assist with laundry and clerical tasks.
