Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced emergency department in the Richmond area. The role includes triage, nursing care, basic diagnostics, and assisting DVMs with patient management.

Pay range is $19.00–$28.00 per hour, with advancement through our competency leveling system. Weekend and holiday shifts are required, and the hospital offers comprehensive health benefits and growth opportunities within Mars Veterinary Health.

Qualifications

• Nursing care for emergency patients according to hospital standards.
• Assist DVM with triage and case management in a fast-paced ED.
• Provide client communication and education as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to emergency patients.
• Report patient signalment, problems and plan during rounds.
• Understand meds, monitor responses and administer as prescribed.
• Perform phlebotomy and basic diagnostics.
• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring for ASA I or II patients.
• Remain current on RECOVER CPR guidelines.
