Job summary

At VEG, an Emergency Veterinary Assistant plays a pivotal role in the heart of our ER. You’ll support triage, treatments, and diagnostics from day one, while learning under credentialed technicians and veterinarians.

The role offers pathways to advanced duties, including anesthesia support and ultrasound, through guided training. You’ll work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed in a fast-paced, open-concept hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR experience.
• Excellent communicator with clients and team.
• Fine motor skills and ability to lift up to 25 kg.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation with team.
• Manage IV fluids, transfusions, and medications.
• Support care across outpatient and inpatient areas.
• Join rounds and stay close to the clinical picture.
