Job summary

The City of Tucson Fire Department seeks an Emergency Vehicle Technician to perform detailed, journey-level service on fire apparatus, ambulances, and support equipment in a fast-paced environment. The role requires on-call duty within one hour, weekends and holidays, and overtime as needed, with a focus on preventive maintenance and repairs on Class 3-8 vehicles.

Candidates must obtain a 609 certification within 30 days of hire and a forklift certification within 60 days.

Qualifications

Job description

The Tucson Fire Fleet Management Division is proud to be certified as an ASE Blue Seal Repair Facility. The Emergency Vehicle Technician is part of this team dedicated to providing service solutions that exceed our customers' expectations. With a specialized fleet of emergency response vehicles, the Tucson Fire Department provides the latest technologies, training, and industry certification opportunities to keep the fleet management team and the fleet at the forefront of the industry.

This position performs preventive maintenance and repairs on Class 3 or higher vehicles and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, on-call on a rotating schedule, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Respond to situations while on call within one (1) hour.

This position requires a Section 609 Air Conditioning Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling certification within 30 days of hire. A City of Tucson Forklift Operator certification within 60 days of hire.

This position requires continued education and renewal, ability to read, write, communicate, and follow oral and written instructions in the English language, and have a rollaway toolbox with a full set of tools required to perform journey level maintenance and repairs on a Class 3 - 8 vehicles.
