Job summary

The City of Fort Worth seeks an Electronics Technician for the Police Department – Fleet Management Unit to install, repair, and maintain emergency lighting, MDC systems, radar, and related equipment on police vehicles. The role emphasizes hands-on electrical work and diagnostics with a focus on fleet readiness.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of automotive electrical repair experience, plus a valid driver’s license and CJIS-compliant background checks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Two (2) years’ experience of responsible basic automotive electrical repair or modification and installation of related electrical components and equipment.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Installs, removes, maintains, diagnoses, repairs or replaces emergency lighting equipment, MDC, GPS, radar, video systems and related police equipment.
• Diagnoses and resolves problems with radio communications systems and networks.
• Designs interfaces for emergency lighting and MDC systems, ensuring correct voltage and amperage.
• Troubleshoots and repairs emergency lighting equipment using multimeter and schematics.
