Job summary

Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, is seeking an Emergency Utility Worker for the Eastern Maintenance Division in Willow Grove, PA. The role involves field and utility tasks, including leak investigations, meter work, and hydrant flushing, with swing shifts and weekend coverage.

The position requires operating valves, using locating devices, and complying with regulatory guidelines; uniform is provided, and a field test will be conducted. The hourly rate is $42.58 with shift differentials.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid operator's driving license.
• Swing shift work including weekends and holidays is required.
• Capable of investigating leaks and main breaks.
• Able to set, read or change a meter up to 1" including AMR's.
• Read company plans and related records relevant to job performance.
• Operate valves and fire hydrants and shut down main breaks.
• Able to communicate with the public and maintain a neat appearance.
• Lift up to 75 lbs.
• Use locating devices pertinent to the job.
• Respond effectively to ONE CALL requests and document in UTILISPHERE.
• Familiarity with PUC regulations affecting service termination and company policies.
• Willing to deliver items as needed by other departments.
• Uniforms are supplied by the company.
• Ability to use a computer to review plates, plans, tap cards, and e‑mail.
• Familiar with GIS, AIMS, UTILISPHERE.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and evaluate service leaks and main breaks.
• Set, read, or change a meter up to 1" including AMR's.
• Read company plans and related forms/records relevant to job performance.
• Operate valves, hydrants, and shut down main breaks.
• Read customer plans and utilize locating devices.
• Respond to ONE CALL requests and document in UTILISPHERE.
• Use GIS, AIMS and UTILISPHERE software in daily work.
• Assist other departments with confined space entry.
• Flush hydrants and blow-offs.
