Job summary

The State of Minnesota invites qualified applicants for Temporary Snowplow Operator positions across District 6A. Roles include Transportation Generalist or Transportation Associate, with CDL requirements, drug testing, and potential overtime during snow events.

Work locations in Albert Lea, Austin, Dresbach, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Stewartville and Winona; shifts usually 12-hour windows, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no Airbrake Restriction or equivalent from another state.
• Must pass pre-placement drug test for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP, amphetamines, and 6‑AM.
• Must be registered in FMCSA Clearinghouse and able to obtain Tanker Endorsement within 6 months (if required).

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing/de-icing chemicals.
• Works with snow fences and mailbox replacement.
• Maintains snow/ice data documentation for inventory and resources.
• Performs traffic control setups and notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
