Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers in Virginia is seeking workers to perform snow removal and other emergency road clearing duties. You will operate dump trucks, loaders, graders, and related equipment, and perform preventative maintenance.

Shifts may be day or night, with standby for call-in emergencies during severe weather. A valid CDL and DOT medical card are required to operate equipment.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to work day or night shifts to support emergency operations.
• Must possess CDL and DOT medical card and comply with policies when operating CDL equipment.
• Safety shoes required.
• Experience operating medium and heavy equipment listed.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties for storm preparation and snow removal.
• Assist with emergency operations for clearing roads and applying abrasives.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment used to clear roadways.
