Job summary

Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center is seeking a Winter Maintenance Aide to support emergency operations and snow removal for roadways in adverse weather.

You will operate medium and heavy equipment such as dump trucks, graders and front-end loaders, follow written and oral instructions, and be available for day or night shifts.

A valid driver's license, CDL and DOT medical card are required, along with safety shoes; extensive standing and heavy lifting may be needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform heavy manual labor including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work day or night shifts to support emergency operations.
• Must possess CDL and DOT medical card and maintain compliance.
• Safety shoes must be worn at all times.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and perform snow and ice removal on roadways.
• Operate dump trucks, front-end loaders, graders, and related equipment.
• Stand-by for call-ins during winter weather events.
• Assist with preventative maintenance on equipment.
