Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a weather operations support worker to assist with snow removal and storm response. You will operate medium and heavy equipment and support road-clearing tasks during emergencies.

The role requires manual labor, standing and lifting up to 50 lbs, and 12-hour shifts. A valid CDL and DOT medical card are required to comply with DOT/VDOT policies. This is a part-time, on-site position with standby call-in duties for seasonal emergencies.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work day or night shifts to support emergency operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform special duties as assigned. Stand-by for call-in seasonal work for storm preparation and snow removal.
• Emergency Operations: Assist and support operations for clearing snow and ice from roadways, applying abrasives and chemicals.
• Manual Labor: Install tire chains, plow, blades, and debris removal.
• Perform duties as assigned.
• Preventative Maintenance: Maintain equipment used to clear roadways during weather events.
