Job summary

Kinsley Power Systems is seeking a shelter aide to work in an emergency shelter environment. You will support clients, monitor safety, assist with meals, and ensure adherence to DHS protocols.

Duties include intake assistance, rounds, room inspections, and incident reporting to maintain a safe, orderly facility. The role requires English proficiency, a high school diploma, and relevant certifications (Food Handler, NARCAN, CPR/First Aid).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
  • Ability to speak, write and understand English.
  • Food Handlers Certification required.
  • NARCAN Certification required.
  • CPR/First Aid Training required.
  • F-02 preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • HHA/CAN or other medical training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct assistance, support and care to clients in the shelter.
  • Assist with meals, keep cafeteria clean and follow DOHMH protocols.
  • Complete intakes and provide tours.
  • Conduct wellness checks and report abnormalities with required logs.
  • Perform hourly rounds and document outcomes.
  • Inspect rooms/dorms for safety and hazards.
  • Complete work orders and follow up actions.
  • Remove contraband and prepare reports.
  • Write occurrence and incident reports as needed.
  • Enforce shelter rules and regulations.
  • Sort and distribute client mail.
  • Serve as liaison to maintain facility atmosphere.
  • Report incidents immediately and document outcomes.
  • Collaborate on monthly fire drills and report results.
  • Be available for flexible hours and trainings as directed.
