Prince William County Community Services is looking for a committed mental health professional to provide essential crisis intervention services to the community. We are currently looking for a Therapist II (Clinical Services Caseworker) to join our Emergency Services Team.

The Department of Community Services currently offers a $2,000.00 Program Stipend for full-time clinical positions employees that work in Emergency / Crisis Services or Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs. Also, The Department of Community Services currently offers a $1,000.00 Program Stipend for part-time clinical positions employees that work in Emergency / Crisis Services or Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs. The program stipend will be paid out biweekly.
This position qualifies for a hiring bonus of $5,000. This bonus will be paid in two equal installments as funds permit. The first installment of $2500 is payable after (90) days of employment have been completed. The final $2,500 installment will be payable following the completion of the probationary period.
About This Role
In this role you will conduct risk assessments for people experiencing behavioral health crisis such as suicidal/homicidal thoughts or psychosis. The therapist II assesses the level of risk, provides intervention to assist with stabilization and recommends appropriate level of care services. Duties include but not limited to:
- Provides emergency mental health intervention services in a 24/7 program
- Conducts screening interviews and makes recommendations for level of care
- Provides outreach, assessment, linkage to and coordination with other service providers
- Provides crisis intervention for clients, including those at high risk for suicide/homicide-under supervisory guidance, evaluates risk and potential need for hospitalization
- Develops and implements risk management plans
- Maintains records according to agency's policies and procedures, prepares reports
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and professional development activities
- Prepares and presents case presentations for clinical supervision
Preferences
- Master’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral science field
- 1-2 years of related experience providing services to individuals in a Behavioral Health, Substance Abuse or Emergency Program (9 months of supervised experience will be considered as 1 year of experience)
- Must currently possess OR be eligible to obtain a LCSW or LPC in the Commonwealth of Virginia within 2 years of hire
- Experience conducting risk assessments
- Experience working in a behavioral health setting
- Experience collaborating with other departments & stakeholders
- Experience working in a team environment
- Experience working within a 24/7 program
- Experience with preadmission assessments
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license;
Must pass DMV record check;
Must pass TB test;
Offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing a fingerprinted-based national criminal history record check.
Child Protective Services Requirements: Effective 1999, mandated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services 12VA35-105-400 rules and Regulations for Licensing Providers by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services related to Criminal Registry Checks, a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglected maintained by the Department of Social Services.
Work Schedule: Multiple positions and shifts will be filled from this recruitment
Weekdays – 4 days a week
Overnight – 3 days a week 12-hour shifts
Starting Salary Range:
$76,069.50 - $104,676.00
